The International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC) series is sponsored by the Chinese Ceramic Society and aims at providing an international forum for presentation, discussion and review of the latest advance in science and technology of high-performance ceramics. During the past years, the CICC series has developed to be the largest international conference on ceramics held in China and also an important international ceramic conference in Asia. Since 1998 when the first conference, CICC-1, was held in Beijing, CICC series attracted more and more scholars and graduate students to join together and exchange information in all areas related to the recent development in the field of high-performance ceramics.

Since 2011, the China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics was renamed as "International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics" (also abbreviated as CICC).

From November 4 to 7, 2011, the Seventh International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC-7), was held at Xianglu Grand Hotel, Xiamen, This Conference was organized by State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University), Xiamen Johnchina Fine Polishing Tech Co., Ltd. and College of Materials Science and Engineering, Xiamen University.

About 720 scholars and students, come from USA, UK, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Canada, Brazil, Iran, Slovenia, Slovak, India, Australia and China (including Taiwan), attended the Conference. 662 Presentations, including 8 plenary lectures, 67 invited talks, 214 regular oral presentations, were given at the Conference.

The Sixth China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC-6) was organized by Center for Composite Materials of Harbin Institute of Technology and State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University) and held from August 16 to 19, 2009, at Victories Hotel, Harbin.

The Conference received more than 750 abstracts. After being evaluated by the Academic Committee, 641 abstracts were accepted. About 650 scholars and students attended the Conference.

4 plenary lectures and 69 invited talks were given by famous scholars at the conference.

After the Conference, the Proceedings of CICC-6 was published in two parts, a special issue of Key Engineering Materials £¨Vols. 434 ~ 435), entitled "High-Performance Ceramics VI", and a special issue of Advanced Materials Research (Vols. 105 ~ 106), entitled "Chinese Ceramics Communications", in 2010 by TTP.

The Fifth China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC-5), organized by College of Aerospace & Materials Engineering of National University of Defense Technology and State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University), was held from May 10 to 14, 2007, at Vaya Hotel, Changsha.

About 900 scholars, come from Japan, Korea, USA, UK, Sweden, France, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Israel, Turkey, Brazil, Iran, Thailand, Slovenia, Malaysia, Philippines, Oman, Australia, Pakistan and China (including Taiwan), attended the Conference. 949 Presentations, including 4 plenary lectures, 77 invited talks, 123 regular oral presentations, were given at the Conference.

After the Conference, the Proceedings of CICC-5 was published as a special issue of Key Engineering Materials (Vols. 368 ~ 372), entitled "High-Performance Ceramics V", in 2008.

Although the CICC-3 was postponed to 2004, the Organizers of CICC decided to held the the Fourth China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC-4) in 2005, i.e., 4 years after CICC-2. After one-year preparation, CICC-4 was held from October 23 to 26, 2005, at California Garden Hotel, Chengdu, Sichuan Provide. The Conference was organized by College of Materials Science and Engineering of Sichuan University and State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University).

The Conference Secretariat received 1186 abstracts. After being evaluated by the Academic Committee, 922 abstracts were accepted. About 900 scholars, come from Japan, Korea, USA, UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Singapore, Israel, Turkey, New Zealand, Brazil and China (including Taiwan), attended the Conference. These data make CICC-4 become one of the largest ceramics conference in the world. The organization and the academic quality of the conference were also highly appreciated by the participants.

6 plenary lectures and 59 invited talks were given at the Conference.

After the Conference, the Proceedings of CICC-4 was published as a special issue of Key Engineering Materials (Vols. 336 ~ 338), entitled "High-Performance Ceramics IV", in 2007.

During CICC-2, many participants suggested that the CICC series may be organized as a biennial conference, to meet the increasing requirements for the Chinese scholars to communicate with the world. Therefore, the organizers announced at CICC-2 that the Third China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC-3) will be held in November of 2003. However, the conference had to be finally postponed to 2004 due to the spread of "SARS" in the spring of 2003.

CICC-3 was successfully held form May 9 to 12, 2004, at Ming-Wah International Convention Centre, Shenzhen. Nearly 500 participants from 23 countries and regions attended the conference to give 540 presentations, including 5 plenary lectures, 29 invited talks.

The Organizers were Graduate School of Tsinghua University at Shenzhen and State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University).

The Proceedings of CICC-3 was published as a special issue of of Key Engineering Materials (Vols. 280-283), entitled "High-Performance Ceramics III", in 2004.

The Second China International Conference on high-Performance Ceramics (CICC-2) was held on November 11 ~ 14, 2001, at Dianchi Garden Hotel & Spa, Kunming. The Organizers were Department of Materials Science of Yunnan University and State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University).

Continuing the success of the first conference in the series, CICC-2 offered an international forum for the presentation, discussion and review of the latest advances in science and technology of high-performance ceramics. The response to the conference announcement was very positive and 237 experimental and theoretical scientists from 17 countries and regions were attracted to the Conference. The organizers received more than 300 abstracts of which 277 were chosen for presentation, including 8 plenary lectures, 31 invited lectures, 178 oral presentations. These contributions covered almost all the aspects of the field, including functional ceramics, structural ceramics, processing of ceramics and evaluation of ceramics.

The conference received 213 manuscripts from the participants and, after review process, 175 papers were finally accepted for publication in the Proceedings, which was then published as a special issue of Key Engineering Materials in 2002 (Vols. 224-226).

Considering that rapid development in the field of high-performance ceramics has been achieved in China since 1980s, in early 1997, the Chinese Ceramic Society decided to sponsor an international conference to offer a platform for the presentation, discussion and review of the latest advances in science and technology of high-performance ceramics around the world.

After about two years preparation, the First China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC-1) was held in Friendship hotel, Beijing, from October 31 to November 2, 1998. 185 scholars from 19 countries and regions were attracted to the CICC-1 to give 221 presentations. The Conference was organized by State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing (Tsinghua University).

After the Conference, the Proceedings of CICC-1 was published by Tsinghua University Press in 1999.
